Russia has produced some fantastic combat sport stars and situations, but a female MMA fighter taking on a 37-stone blogger in an inter-gender fight may be the oddest.
Darina Mazdyuk, 29, will battle YouTuber Grigory Chistyakov in the greatest mismatch in history in November 2020. But Mazdyuk, who didn’t even weigh ten stone, wasn’t put off by the weight or gender disparity – and it was even her idea.
She devised the daring idea of the fight to raise her profile and, hopefully, earn a contract with one of the major promotions.
And the risk paid off, as her experience of being in the cage ultimately outweighed (if you’ll pardon the pun) Chistyakov’s size advantage.
She had to deal with some wild punches in the early going, one of which connected, and then a headlock up against the metal.
Wasn’t sure about posting this, but decided I’d be failing you all if I didn’t

The footage went viral and caught the eye of Bellator, who signed her to a multi-fight deal after watching the bizarre win.
“It was actually me who initiated it,” Mazdyuk told MMA Junkie.
“I got the idea of fighting someone huge and with that, there’s a promotional value not just for Russia, but for the US and other countries.
“It turns out, this way I was able to draw attention to (myself). This way, I scored a Bellator contract.”
While the Red Queen got the better of the inter-gender fight, her Bellator debut ended in defeat last month.
She suffered a second-round TKO loss to Katarzyna Sadura at Bellator 269 in her home city of Moscow.
Her professional MMA record now reads three wins and two losses – or four and two if you think her most famous fight should count.
